On the 7th May myself and the kiddies took a day trip to Leahy’s Open Farm, a family run, family friendly open farm located in Dungourney Co. Cork. Eddie and Eileen’s Farm is open every day to the public from 11am to 6pm and is jam packed with fun activities both indoor and outdoor.
There is a fantastic Playground just outside the Coffee Shop and Restaurant with swings, slide and a Playhouse. The Restaurant can cater for Christenings, Communions and Confirmations. I believe no cakes are bought in for the coffee shop and everything is freshly home made every day by Eileen and other family members!
Indoors you will find some cats, rabbits, mice, guinea pigs, birds, hens, pigs, calves and Houdini the Snake! You can also view an array of old machines and horse drawn carriages and carts at the Farm Museum, the extensive collection of antiques at Nan’s Museum and see all the old instruments used back in the day at the Carpenter’s Workshop.

Leahy’s has you covered for all weather conditions with their Indoor Play Barn, a great venue for Birthday Parties and the Farmer’s Fun House, a large building which houses the indoor go kart arena, slides and tunnels, sandpit, basketball hoop and rings and lots more.

Outdoor Activities include the Big Drop Slide (so much fun!!), Digger Park, Adventure Trail and Climbing Towers, Go Kart Track, Mystery Maze, Crazy Golf, Crannog Area, Fairy Fort Garden and Quad and Barrel Train Rides which are not just for kids!
There are lots of animals to be see on the Farm including Goats, Ducks, Geese, Hens, Deer, Sheep, Horses, Donkeys, Calves, Alpacas and Humphrey the Camel!

If you’d like to take a trip back in time, the Farmer’s Cottage is where Eddie and Eileen lived for many years with their young family. You can read the beautiful, nostalgic and very inspiring story of Eddie and Eileen’s life on the Farm here.
We always enjoy our time at Leahy’s Open Farm as the Staff are so welcoming and friendly. On this visit, we particularly enjoyed Matt the Farmer showing us how Daisy the Cow is milked. Her milk is actually used to make the ice-cream on the Farm!
After having yet another fun day out on the farm, we would highly recommend a visit to Leahy’s Open Farm. It has so much to offer and is suitable for all ages – babies to Grandparents!
And just in case you didn’t know, there is free entry for all the Dads this Sunday 18th June for Father’s Day!!
Thanks for stopping by x
