DIY Autumn Decor

Supplies Used for this Project:

 Frenchic Original Range – Ballerina

Frenchic Frensheen – Cool Copper & Beautiful Bronze

Frenchic Finishing Coat

FIRSTLY, I WASHED THE CERAMIC PUMPKIN TEA LIGHT HOLDERS WITH SUGAR SOAP AND THEN APPLIED THE FINISHING COAT WITH A SPONGE.  FRENCHIC FINISHING COAT ALSO ACTS AS A PRIMER SO I USED IT IN THIS CASE AS THE CERAMIC SURFACE IS VERY SMOOTH AND I WANTED MY PAINT TO PROPERLY ADHERE TO THE PUMPKINS.  I GAVE MY PUMPKINS TWO COATS OF THE BALLERINA PAINT AND ONCE DRY, I SEALED WITH FINISHING COAT TO PROTECT.

NEXT, I MIXED THE COOL COPPER FRENSHEEN POWDER WITH SOME FINISHING COAT AND THEN DID THE SAME WITH THE BEAUTIFUL BRONZE FRENSHEEN.  A GOOD TIP IS TO MIX THESE IN A SMALL TUPPERWARE POT OR SOMETHING WITH A LID SO THAT THERE IS NO WASTE IF YOU MAKE TOO MUCH!  START OFF WITH A LITTLE BIT OF POWDER, A FEW DROPS OF FINISHING COAT AND MIX UNTIL YOU ARE HAPPY WITH THE CONSISTENCY.

STARTING FROM THE TOP I USED A SMALL ARTIST PAINT BRUSH TO APPLY THE FRENSHEEN, DRAGGING IT THROUGH THE CREASES ABOUT A THIRD OF THE WAY DOWN THE PUMPKINS TO GIVE IT THAT DRIPPING EFFECT.  YOU COULD ALSO JUST POUR THE FRENSHEEN OVER THE TOP BUT I’M WAY TOO OCD FOR THAT!! lol

NEXT MYSELF AND MY DAUGHTER PAINTED SOME LEAVES, WHICH WE HAD GATHERED FROM OUR LOCAL KILLEAGH WOODS, USING THE SAME TWO FRENSHEEN COLOURS – COOL COPPER AND BEAUTIFUL BRONZE.  THIS WILL HELP TO KEEP THE LEAVES FROM DRYING OUT MAKING THEM LAST LONGER!

You could display your pumpkins simply like this with some bits from around your home.

Or like this with the leaves to create a Centre Piece for your Hall Table or you could place the leaves horizontally along the centre of your Dining Table or Kitchen Island to give a runner effect with Pine Cones and Candles in the middle.

You can of course also Paint foam Pumpkins or real Pumpkins with Frenchic!

Try some Polka Dots!
Get this Chevron Effect using Masking Tape!

These are a few Pumpkins I painted last year for my Weekend:am TV Craft Contributor Segment.
